Where outside Stroud is walkable to town?

We are thinking of moving to Stroud or somewhere just outside. Trying to work out if any of the villages, or edge areas have footpaths/pavements into town. My wife doesn't drive yet and while happy to walk a fair distances, she is not keen on sharing narrow roads while pushing a buggy.

How about Rodborough?

It stretches right from the edge of the town centre to up on the Commons. There are a couple of good primary schools and playgroups.
Quite a mix of housing, so there should be something in what ever you price range is.

Pavements run all the way from Stroud along the A419 through Thrupp, Brimscombe and into Chalford. I think they run along the A46 past Rodborough through Woodchester to Nailsworth too. And through Cainscross/ Ebley.

The canal towpath has been improved over the past few years and is great for walking on (and obviously flat). Lots of traffic but only walkers, cyclists and ducks! It runs from Stroud out through Cainscross, Ebley and Ryeford to Stonehouse, and the other way from Stroud through Bowbridge to Brimscombe and the bottom end of Chalford.
