Moving to Buckinghamshire

Dear all,
I am currently living in Wimbledon with my two children (7 and 5) and my DH and we want to start a new life outside of London. I grew up in London so I do not know a lot about other places. We want to live somewhere in the countryside perhaps in a small village but still with a reasonable amount of shops nearby. DH needs a commute into London so there needs to be a train. Our budget for the move £1m so money is not an issue. Any help greatly appreciated :)
Thanks x

Hi lucysaurus, Bucks is a huge county, have you been anywhere that particularly appealed? You'll find that most of the towns and villages that are close to London and have a train station are quite pricey as they are so popular.

Also what kind of schooling are you looking for? State or independent? This can affect where you may want to settle.

Beaconsfield has excellent train links. Fab town.

Marlow no train but on the river and beautiful. My DF commuted from Marlow for many years.

Cookham beautiful.

Cookham is Berkshire though.

We moved from Chiswick to a very naice village outside of Leighton Buzzard. Express train from LB is just 28 mins into Euston. Very green and quiet here. LB itself is a bit grotty, but the villages around are all very nice and family oriented. Plus Milton Keynes has excellent amenities. Grammar school catchment and good local primaries
