The Brown & Root Tower in Colliers Wood - is something happening???

Since just before Christmas, someone has painted the perimeter security fence and put up a covered-over tunnel walkway near the 470/200/152 bus-stop.

It looks as if they might finally be about to do something constructive or am I being over-optimistic???

Do we dare hope?? Anyone got any insider info???

I read this week they've finally started converting the tower into 200+ flats. So yes, something's finally happening!

Yep. Flats on top shops on the bottom apparently.

Noticed that there's a digger visible from within the secured perimeter! So it looks as if something is going on!

There is definitely work going on. Some workmen spotted (yesterday afternoon) on an elevated platform, up the side fo the building facing up Merton High Street (towards South Wimbledon).

Wonders will never cease!

Please please please let this be true!

No, we're not imagining that there's work afoot on the site! We've seen two guys up on a suspended platform (about 10 floors up) this afternoon rather them than me in this freezing weather! And some other workmen were busy painting a recently constructed wooden covered walkway (over the pavement side of the site that faces Wandle Park).

It's been a long time coming but finally it's official: check out the latest update from Merton Council!

There's also the Colliers Wood Action Group FB page if you want to keep abreast of progress.
