What's Horsforth like? Aircraft noise everywhere?

Hi, just wondering if anyone here lives in Horsforth or do you have a friend or relatives living there? My little one is starting school soon and we saw a house near the end of west end lane which potentially could be our home. Little one can also attend the school there. However, I was told by a friend yesterday that a lot of houses in Horsforth are built under the flight path and therefore, very noisy. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if West End Lane is also affected? the house is located near the end of West End Lane and apparently, a lot of people living in the Brownberrie Lane area are affected by the noise. If you look at the map, west end lane is just next to Brownberrie Lane. Any advice will be appreciated!!

I live pretty much right under the flight path and it doesn't bother me. Not had any problems with either ourselves or the kids getting to sleep. In the house you can hear it but not enough to distract from TV say. If you're outside in can be loud enough to interrupt a conversation for 30 seconds whilst they go over.

West End Lane is maybe half a mile off the flight path so should be a fair bit quieter than where I am, so I wouldn't worry. Just go along and wait until a plane comes over and you can see for yourself! (Nice house along there by the way!)

You will hear the planes there. You're bet dodging and sitting outside the house for an hour and seeing whether you think it would bother you.

We're on the flight path too, but am glad to say it doesn't bother us at all, even in the garden (although we're slightly further away.

Also, they only fly during the day. First plane is about 6.20 I think, so no disruption at night.

That end of Horsforth sits right on the flight path. We live the other end (towards new road side) now and no flight path noise there. Try looking at the houses in 'the Victorias' - away from the flight path, no flight noise and nice area. Houses come and go there pretty quickly- so good luck!
