Hi there

We are hoping moving to Berkhamsted later this year (if we can afford it!)

It seems like such a lovely place to live but would anyone suggest any areas to avoid? I am a little bit worried about living too close to the train line as that seems really loud? I'm also a bit worried about how much general living costs will rack up when I take commuting to London 3 days per week into account.

My daughter is nearly 2 so can anyone advise on good local nurseries and also on the Catholic primary St Thomas More? I saw it was outstanding which is great news, but is it a friendly, happy school too?

Actually, any Berkhamsted tips would be very much appreciated!

Thanks very much

Hi there.

I don't think there are any places really to avoid in Berkhamsted.....there are two so called council estates...Durrants and Ashylns. But I don't think these needed to be avoided.
The houses near the train line tend to be the most expensive as they are in the middle of town and are Victorian....sought after. I think you get more for your money the further out of town you go. If you are commuting, living in walking distance to the train station will save on parking costs.

I don't know Thomas More I'm afraid, but I do think all the schools in the town are highly regarded.
Sorry....I don't know much about nurseries either as I'm a childminder!!

Hope this helps a little bit.
