Mumsnet Local have teamed up with the Good School Guide to provide a comprehensive list of primary schools in Cambridge

primary schools

You can quickly see ofsted ratings & link to the Good School Guide review too.

Good luck to all those looking for schools & putting in your applications. Feel free to add any questions about schools or the application on this thread. Many of us have been through the system & happy to help if we can.

Here's a link to the over subscribed schools in Cambridge & the surrounding region 2014

link to list

I'm trying to find the paper work I was sent last year which detailed the numbers accepted per school & what were the distances for furthest pupil accepted... if anyone else has a copy for 2014 entries can you DM me -

Thanks

Thanks for this - although i note that the St Luke's website is for a different St Luke's not the one in Cambridge :)

And you've missed off Melbourn Primary school, and Meldreth Primary school - although both have an SG postcode, they're still Cambridgeshire primary schools.

LocalEditorCambridge · 26/11/2014 22:35

Oh thank you! Will let Good School Guide know. MNHQ teamed up with them to do the list.

Howmany they might be included on the mumsnet Cambridgeshire site - let me check.

There are other South Cambridgeshire primary schools (with CB postcodes) also missing - e.g. the Linton VC feeder schools:
Burrough Green Endowed C of E (Controlled) Primary School
Castle Camps C of E (Controlled) Primary School
Great Abington Primary School
Linton Heights Junior School
Meadow Community Primary School, Balsham

It's seems to be a bit arbitrary - I expected the list to be of the school sin the city of Cambridge, and that would be fine. But then you're getting some of the school sin the outlying villages listed and not others. I'm curious as to how the Good School Guide set their boundaries!

SiliconJen · 27/11/2014 21:12

Do you mean this for last year's info? www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/3166/first_steps_2015-16_directory_of_schools

It has criteria allocated to, but not distance.

LocalEditorCambridge · 28/11/2014 18:42

all of those Cambridge schools should be included Cantuse

Silicon that's not what I meant but that's great. I was sent a list of schools & the furthest distance the last accepted child was from the - e.g in our catchment it was for Newnham Croft - e.g. we were 620 metres away and the last child was 600 and I had this information for every Cambridge school. I've put it somewhere (with the thought I'd share on here) and I can't flipping find it.......

We appealed along with 22 other families for Newnham Croft so I don't understand why it says 0 appeals - 3 families (4 children as one family with twins) were successful in their appeal.

I'll go through that list (from Silicon) & match to the Good School Guide list. There's a few errors with links as well - the newnham croft school link doesn't go anywhere either.

I've let the Good School Guide (via MNHQ) know about St Luke's. Keep them coming if you spot errors & don't forget you can add your own reviews of schools if you want.

Is there any chance of extending this at some point to the outlying areas that still consider Cambridge as their local. For example the CB10/11 postcodes that make up Saffron Walden. Whilst this is MN Local Cambridge due to the county boundaries there's probably quite a few of us technically living in Suffolk, Essex and Herts who still look to Cambridge as our local city and for secondary schools (and primary in some cases if you're looking at private). Also do we need 4 entries for the Phoenix school on there?! Grin

LocalEditorCambridge · 12/12/2014 20:24

Perilla

I've deleted the superfluous Phoenix entries. Grin

I'll ask about the extra postcodes but I think I'll probably be told those can be found on the sister sites (MN Essex MN Cambridgeshire etc). But you're right - there is huge overlap.
