Does anyone know the Notton / Royston area

Hi Everyone,

We are relocating to the area with work and have seen a house in a place called Notton which looks really nice. The only downside is that there is no school in Notton itself and we have school age children.

It seems like the nearest schools are in Royston - is anyone familiar with this area or the schools?

We've done a bit of research and are hearing mixed things - my OH drove through Royston and had a look about and said it seemed ok?

We are not from Yorkshire so it's really difficult as we are not familiar with the areas. We have been up a few times but any thoughts or information from anyone local would be much appreciated.

Hi. We don't live in Barnsley itself, but not far away. There's been a lot of change in the Barnsley schools in recent years, and have heard many mixed messages myself. If you are looking at Notton, I wonder if you have thought about either more Wakefield way or the HD8 side of Huddersfield? If you are looking at Wakefied, Ossett and Horbury are both nice areas with plenty ameneties and good schooling. Then you've got the Denby Dale, Kirkburton side of Huddersfield which again have plenty to do and good schooling.
