Moving to Lewes

Hello. We are thinking of moving to Lewes and I would love to know more about the area please. What is there to do for adults and for children? What is it like financially such as utilities and water etc? Is there cinema's, pubs, little high streets etc? I would love the opinions of those who live there! Thank you :)

Lewes is nice, but VERY expensive. No cinema, and not much shopping unless you like drinking coffee and buying antiques or designer clothes, but there's a football club and a LOT of pubs.

It used to be a Sussex market town but over the last ten years Londoners have been flooding in so it's now basically a trendy London suburb. That's really the only way to describe it. If you want Covent Garden surrounded by countryside and you don't mind the Guardianista trendies this is the place for you.

Hi

We will be relocating to Lewes this summer with three children (9, 6 and 2). I am really excited but scraed to leave my friends and London support network. Have others on here moved to Lewes without knowing anybody? How easy did you find it to make new friends and do you have any top tips for doing so?

Many thanks

Hi,

I too am moving to the area, probably seaford, which isn't that far from Lewes.
I have a son who will be 18mths at the time. We know the area, as we have family down there, but would love to meet other newbies or locals.
