Living in Norwich

My husband and I are planning on moving from Scotland to the Norwich area (as my husbands company has offices there) and any advice on what areas are nice and which ones to avoid would be appreciated. I work in intelligence and ideally would be looking for a job with the local police force. My oldest daughter would be looking to go to University and any information regarding the Universities in the area would be great.
Thanks in advance

Hello Elaine; Welcome to Norwich! UEA (University of East Anglia) is excellent, and there are some lovely villages and towns that side of Norwich; ie Hethersett, Wymondham, Mulbarton etc. The Norfolk Police headquarters is also in Wymondham.

Best of luck! Heather (Editor - Mumsnet Norfolk)

UEA is great, I came to go to uni and never left.

Which areas are you thinking of? Do you need to be near a particular area for travel/work?

I'm a student at the UEA and it is brilliant. I love Norwich and would love to move back there (live in west norfolk currently) but can't exchange. There is so much to see and do in Norwich with plenty of history and culture thrown in. Can you tell I love it yet?! Areas to avoid include the larkman and mile cross.

Thanks everyone, my daughter has two interviews with UCS soon and I'm looking forward to coming down and seeing the local areas. UEA unfortunately don't do the courses that she is looking at (Interior architecture and design) One of the courses she has an interview for is based in Ipswich and the other Bury St Edmunds. Will be looking at areas around there with hopefully good transport to the University. Thanks Sophie, I will avoid the Larkman and Mile Cross. I will start looking for jobs soon, although it doesn't have to be with one of the police forces.
