What is Battle like for families

We currently live in a flat in Hove but we want to buy a house and cannot afford a house here. Our son starts school in Sept and we have our 2nd on the way. We have been looking at possibly moving to Battle but I wondered if anyone who knows the area could tell me what there is in the way of toddler groups and what family life is like there. I would be SO grateful for any advice at all. Thank you

Battle is a super place to live. There are lovely local walks and woods and a lovely high street for shopping. There are lots of activities and events, particular at the Memorial Hall on the High Street - such as mother and toddlers and mini movers classes. Also, the schools are good and the secondary school is rated outstanding. I'd really recommend Battle for families.

We are hoping to move to Battle in the next couple of months (subject to exchange of contracts) and are looking at local schools in the area. Can anyone tell me about them? Also are there plenty of clubs for children to join after school? Would be very grateful! Many thanks ps was glad to see comment from number1countrymum that Battle is great for families as moving from South London to escape the mad rush!

Great move, oscar976 - I moved from Clapham 11 years ago and have never looked back! Battle is great. There is a super state primary school and secondary school. My two children go to Claremont, which is a private school near to Battle. It is Ofsted outstanding and we love it. It starts at age 1 and children can go right through to 6th form. There are plenty of after school clubs for all ages. Hope this helps and good luck with your move!
