Please help - which house would you prefer (Twickenham area)

I have already posted a question just on the location of the houses, but did not get many replies so really hoping for some opinions here!

I am looking to buy a 3-bed house in St-Margarets/Twickenham area with a very limited budget (for that area) of around 500K. There isn't anything in that price brackets in St-Margarets/Twickenham, so I have started looking at the borders of these area.

There are 2 houses on the market now, please please give me your opinions which one you would prefer and why (or none of these really ) - I am going to throw myself into a really huge mortgage commitment, so this isn't an easy decision for me.

1 - First house on sale for 550K but is on the market for quite a while now, so hopefully the seller will agree for a lesser amount.

2 - Second house just got on the market at 470 but there is an open day coming, so it may go for more than that.

I am not from this part of London so would really really appreciate any comments about the above locations and generally about good areas around where I can still buy for around 500K. Transport is very important consideration (commuting to City of London), and schools will be important in the future (not kids yet though, and we are CoE so would consider CoE schools in the future).

Have you tried Hampton and Hampton hill - it's a very lovely area and you might just find something in your price range. I'd ring Snellers on Hampton Hill high street

definitely the first one - for location, schools etc.

the 2nd one is too close to the Mogden water treatment plant, I'd be concerned with the smell.

Definitely the 1st one, I have friends who live on this development. It has a lovely feel and all of their neighbours are very friendly. Also the local schools are great.

I would agree, the Twickenham house. You are right next to the park, Trafalgar, Chase Bridge and Archdeacon primary schools are nearby and great. 10 minute walk to Twickenham Green, 20 minute to the high street and about 12 minutes walk to Whitton High Street, station and shops. It's a real family area and very friendly.

The Isleworth house is really close to Mogdon which smells at certain times. It's also not quite as green round there as the Twickenham house and feels a little more urban but depends on what you prefer. I also think you are probably a little further from the station.

Alextedd, Rwbunny, Gegs74 - thanks a lot, really appreciate that! Do you think that Twickenham house worth the extra at least 60K then (the dofference in price between the houses)?

yes definitely. the st margaret's/isleworth house isn't in a good location.

the Twickenham house is in a good spot. just make sure it doesn't back onto the A316 (some of them will in this development i think)
