Home in Chelmsford - need advise

Hi,

We are not local in Chelmsford but we are looking to buy our 1st home there. So far our search was concentrated on Springfield area due to good primary schools and easy daily access to station. Unfortunately we haven't found any property which suits best to our need so far.

We also came across some interesteing properties in Chelmar Village which has also easy access to station but we are not sure about the primary schools there. Can anyone please advise how are the schools there and how is this locality like?

Thanks!

Both Springfield and Chelmer Village are nice areas. Chelmer Village is arguably the nicer but I live in Springfield and really like it here.

There are good schools in both areas. I think you can be confident buying a house in either area. My DS is due to start school next september so we are viewing schools over the next few weeks so I can't give much specific advice on that, but have heard good things about Perryfields and Tyrells in Springfield. And I think there's Barnes Farm in Chelmer Village.

I personally don't like Chelmer village, but that's just me. However, be careful if Barnes farm is full, your child might end up in Trinity, which is awful.

Agreed with poster above regarding schools, other good ones are Lawford Mead and Newlands Spring - check with schools what streets they take though, both fairly close to station.
