Hi everyone, I am moving from Wimbledon to Surrey around Christmas time. I no nothing about Surrey but I want to move somewhere greener and still stay within London. I have heard cobham is nice so please let me know if it is and what it is like. Also open to surrounding areas. DH needs a maximum 50min train to Waterloo. Have two boys: 6 and 3 :)

Please let me know, thanks x

Cobham is a bit tricky for commuting as the town and a lot of the housing aren't really anywhere near the station. Plenty going on for families with young children though.

Similar towns/villages nearby that are good for commuting and families (decent schools, plenty of activities) - Walton, Hersham and Esher. Weybridge is nice too, but not that easy to live near the station. Oxshott is lovely but it's a v small village.

If your DH is prepared to spend up to 50 mins on the train then you could look further out - West Byfleet, Fleet, Hook, Hartley Witney.

What about Guildford - further distance from london but the trains are quicker and there are more of them. It does however depend on your budget and how close to a station/main road you want to be.

I'd certainly look at places along the Waterloo - Cobham -Guildford line. Also maybe Godalming (further out but still can do in less than 50 min on the right train).
How green do you want?

Also look along Waterloo -Leatherhead - Guildford/Dorking lines. Similar villages and countryside but the stations are near the village centres.
