Moving to Glasgow - 4 & 6 year old schooling advice needed

Hi moms, we are moving from Singapore to Glasgow in Nov. Very New with the school system in Glasgow.

I like to ask what kind of standard difference between private and local nurseries?

I called up some popular schools and no more place for my children.
We are considering other schools in westend like Anderson Primary or Thornwood primary as they have got nurseries classes as well.

I saw the newspaper report on thornwood primary. Any parent know how bad it was?

Can I asked what's the advantage of popular schools compare to the not so popular schools?
Since I haven't been to Glasgow before, would appreciate some advice. Thank you very much.

You could try here: www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/find-a-school for ratings on all schools. I found that the state nursery my DD attended was fantastic and a great introduction to the primary school it was attached to, which she now attends.
Many popular schools I know of are overpopulated. My niece attends a well known Glasgow school with a great name but eats her packed lunch at her desk as there is nowhere else.
Most schools have their own website now and you should be able to see their latest inspection reports. These give a good idea of standards.
Good luck with the move!

A friends son is at Glasgow Academy prep, and has been there since nursery. He is really pleased with it! Although it is a private school!

Hi, the article on Thornton primary was proven to be false. We are also new to Glasgow and My son attends that school and loves it, the after school care is also great and our daughter will be attending the nursery after October holidays!
