New au pair would like to meet some friends in Exeter

We have had a new au pair start with us in Exeter. She is excellent but we are new to Exeter and I am trying to link her in with some friends as she feels quite isolated at the moment. Her English is very good. Can anybody help?

How old is she and which country is she from? The university might be the best place for her to meet people if she's that sort of age.

She is 18, German speaking from Switzerland. Taking a year out between school and university where she hopes to study medicine. She is registered for an English course at the college but as a mature student she has been told she is not eligible for the clubs and I was assuming as she is not at the university she would not be eligible to participate there either. Suggestions welcome?
