Guide to Croydon Primary School Admissions

Is it your turn to be thinking about a primary school for your pre-schooler?

The most important thing to do is to ensure you apply in time (in this instance, if your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 you MUST apply by 15 January 2015 for a primary school place) and to use all SIX of your choices. You may not get your first choice and it's probably better if its you that makes the alternative choice rather than the Council.

Some schools also have supplementary forms to complete, especially religious schools so don't forget to obtain the correct form.

This handy guide from Croydon Council gives loads of information about the timetable for school applications and what you need to do to complete the process.

Lots of Mumsnetters have been through the process before so feel free to ask questions about specific schools.

Good luck!

Thanks, this is really useful. We're not quite there yet (DD will be 2016 intake) but given that our nearest School (Ridgeway) seems to have an incredibly variable catchment depending on siblings etc (from >1mi to 0.2mi apparently!) we're already starting to think about alternatives, just in case.

About 5 years ago it was over a mile I think but in recent years it's stuck around 0.5-0.6 miles, despite the school itself expanding.
