Today my daughter came home from nursery crying, saying that she been pulled into the nursery office and been advised that two of the staff had taken down my granddaughters trousers and pants to inspect her bottom.

When my daughetr explained that my granddaughter had an infection. She was hit by the snide comments "are you quite sure of this" My granddaughter is now not wanting to go back to nursery because of this. And my daughter is so upset to be accused of this.

my question is do they have the right to strip a child like this?

NO. They don't. And certainly not to do it themselves. If any childcare provider has concerns they must notify social services....are you quite sure this is what happened??

It wold probably be more appropriate for you to ask this question on the "main" boards if you are genuinely concerned. There is more traffic there.

mrswinnibago, yes we are sure this happened and have now passed our concerns to the care inspectorate officer, how is extreamly concerned about the complaint.

prettybird, not sure how to do this as it took me ages to find this page.
