Hi I'm Christine (42), I've recently moved to York from London. I have a 7 year old son and would love to meet up with other mums in the area. I live near Huntington. Any advice on places to do things to do would be greatly appreciated. :o)

Hi, I've just joined Mumsnet (so I'm hoping I get this post in the right place...I'm still learning)! My name is Emma, I'm 45, I have 2 teenagers and my husband and I are about to move from Scotland to York (before Christmas it would seem,as we've just sold our house). I don't know York at all, I've only visited the town once, my husband has started a new job there. I would be very very grateful for any advice as to where to start looking for a house! A good secondary school near by would be essential. Smile

I have teenage DDs, so not much help in terms of friends but I do live in Huntington! When my DDs were younger they liked Waterworld and the Railway Museum. The covered play area at the Designer Outlet was always a hit and Rowntree Park also has an excellent play area. Further afield Filey is lovely for a day out. Very locally we like looking for water voles on the Foss if your son is interested in nature. If you go to church St. Andrews has every good provision for children. Hope you are settling in well and pleased with your move :)
