Looking for days out that are autism friendly (can take car, can dip in and out, cheap) around Nottingham/south/mid Notts. Needs to be older person, and limited walking tolerance friendly too. (Goodness we are awkward!)

As you can guess from the user name we are not local, but visit family regularly.

Hi there,

Depends what you like...

Obvious free or inexpensive things are parks and many museums - our listings for both are quite good (in 'Things to Do'), I discovered some smaller museums I hadn't known about when adding them!

Have you been to Attenborough Nature Reserve recently? It's changed a lot in the last few years; lots of birds to see and feed, walk as far or short a distance as you like and the cafe in the Nature Centre is really nice. It can get busy, so pick your time if that's an issue. They run some activities too.

You'll know Wollaton Park I expect. Farms - the sort visitable by children - might be good, we have a few listed.

Did you know that Broadway cinema do autism-friendly screenings? I think they still do discounted day-time screenings for pensioners too (with tea and biscuits) but probably not both at the same time.

We'll be adding lots of activity listings to our 'half term' section from late September. At the moment it's just holiday clubs. So, watch that space I think!

Hope that helps,
Charlotte
