Kingston Sling Library

Hi there Kingston Mumsnetters

I'm thinking of starting a sling library for Kingston. There are a few in London and they work really well for folks with wear-able babies - basically you can take a sling to try for a while and see if it works for you and your little one. I'm thinking I'd set a monthly (or more regular, if necessary) meet-up, maybe in a pub function room etc, and run it from there.

So what I want to know is...

  1. Is this a service that you think would be useful?
  2. Do any of you have any slings you're no longer using that you'd be willing to donate?!

I thought I'd start here, and I'll also contact the NCT, work out whether there'd be a need for the service, and then take it from there.

To let you know a little about me, my name's Marie and I'm a new Mum to baby Alice, who is 8 weeks old. I'm also new to Kingston - my husband Al and I moved here in June and we live in Norbiton (sort of - the bit between Norbiton Station and Cambridge Road). In my work life I run a charity that works with homeless people.

Really looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Marie,

Sounds great. There are quite a few of us about. Are you on SW Attachment Parenting group on Facebook? There is a lady on there who used to organise one at Jellybugs each month, I'm not sure if she still does as I haven't been for a while. Also, on Facebook there is a group called Kingston Parents Network and a few of us have got together for an informal meet every now and then.
