Save Stafford Maternity and Paediatrics

From January 2015 Stafford Hospital will no longer be able to deal with Consultant led maternity cases and will lose its Paediatrics unit. They will only deal with Midwife led maternity and this could lead to emergency transfers between Stafford and University Hospital (Newcastle). How do Stafford mums feel about the potential 17 mile journey to receive care … and how do Newcastle / Stoke mums feel about the dilution of their local services? Based on 2012/13 numbers, the migration of consultant led services from Stafford to UHNS will increase University Hospital's workload by 15%.

As a parent who doesn't drive or have easy access to a car for a lift, I'm terrified that these changes are going ahead, without regard to the local people who need them!
