Hi everyone, finally after lots of looking on and off we will move we won't!!! we think Almondsbury could be the place if we do move. However one issue is we have been told that there can be a really bad smell in the village from the dairy farms and flies are a real issue. Any information would be a great help as really love the village but worried, also any information on the new surfing centre and effect on the village would also be good. Apologies to go on just want to make the right decision!!

Thanks

Hi Toby, I had to laugh at your description! I've never come across a bad smell or fly issue and never heard anyone else mention it either. Townsend Lane has farmland on one side, but most of the village is away from the farm.

Re the surfing centre, it's going to be quite a way along Over Lane, so not expecting any real impact. Most traffic will come off the Easter Compton M5 junction I expect. And it isn't a high volume activity, they can't have lots of people on at once, so traffic shouldn't be bad.

Hi ManicMinor.

Thank you for your reply, no offence to Almondsbury was meant by my message it is a lovely village. Another local resident told us about the farm and I know the dairy farm is close to the village. I understand if you live in a more rural spot there will be country smells but we were told it is very bad and the flies are awful especially in the summer. Obviously as a village resident I value your opinion.

Thank you again

Toby

Just jumping on the Almondsbury wagon here.
I love the area and would really like to live there but In all honesty I can't afford to do it on my own.
Please let me know if you know of anyone looking to house share (I am 37 year old Mum with a 3 year old daughter) esp if with another single mum or dad.
Thanks

Hello again,

Sorry to post for more information again but 2 houses have fallen through and we are now looking in a completely different places, either Thornbury Glous' or Bishop Sutton Somerset, very random I know!! Any information or opinions would be really appreciated, veering towards the Chew Valley but work near Temple Meads so worried about the commute.

Thank you

For commuting to Temple Meads area from Chew Valley the best option may be to park your car at the Brislington Park and Ride (just off A4 Bath rd) and then take the bus to Temple Meads.
Good primary school in Bishop Sutton and Chew Valley secondary school has very good reputation.

thank you HTH, think we may have discounted the Bishop Sutton now, just worried about the amount of new builds going up in Thornbury, although we like the Town! Pretty much given upon ever moving to be honest, me and hubby will just have to live apart.
