A good GP around Canary Wharf?

Hi,

We just moved to Canary Wharf from the US and I'm excited to find Mumsnet.

We're looking for a friendly, high-quality GP practice (on the NHS) around Canary Wharf. Can anyone recommend one? We are looking at The Barkantine Practice. I saw the list of GPs here, but none of them are reviewed and we're out of the catchment areas for most of them anyway.

Thanks!

Hi! Unfortunately, I can't answer your question. We also just moved from the US and are currently in Waterloo (at a corporate apartment) but would be moving to Canary Wharf next month. I'm also searching for a GP so wanted to follow this thread. I'm still familiarizing myself with it all. What is a catchment area?
Thanks!

A catchment area is the boundary within which a doctor will accept patients. It's based on where you live, so choose carefully! :) I have heard that they'll get rid of catchment areas next year, so you'd be able to choose any doctor, which would be great. There doesn't seem to be many choices for people living in Canary Wharf, unless you go private.

Ok thanks! I've found one that seems good, Island Medical. I haven't been there yet though. We actually have private insurance but I believe one still needs an NHS GP.
