Moving to Manchester! Commuting Times?

Hi,

I'm moving to Manchester soon for a job near Alderley Edge. I really like the Northern Quarter, but I'm worried about how long it would take to get to work, so I'm torn between living in the city centre, and living in Didsbury. The commute would be a major factor for me - would anyone be able to describe what the commute is likely to be like by car, from the city centre to Alderley Edge (would the train be easier)?

Thanks!

Tired to post a couple of times off my phone but it just crashes. The commute would be 45 mins - hour depending on time of year and traffic. I have a friend who does it from Moss side in 45 mins, but that's out of town. Train would be easier from town if the walk is ok at the other end etc. I would find it a bit of a hike. Didsbury is a great place to live. What are you actually after in terms of other requirements? I have lived in Dids 20 years
