East Popley, Basingstoke

Hello,

We are thinking about buying a house in East Popley, but a bit discouraged by the formulations in our house valuation.

It says that "future saleability may be affected because of adverse locational factors".

Anybody living / lived or visiting the area and could advise us what it's like to actually live there?

The property is ca. 3 minutes from Basing Wood. We were there 3 times and didn't get a negative feel of the area at all, it's not posh but it didn't look run down or dirty to us, there are a lot of green spaces and playgrounds, and all people we came across were friendly. We also saw lots of children running around and playing without supervision, which I thought is a good sign. The valuation says that "the property is in an area of predominantly social housing", however to me it seems that this applies more to areas of Popley which are further south. The one thing that is a bit inconvenient is that it's a ca. 15 minutes bus ride from the town centre - but it's not a big problem for us.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated, or if you could direct me to other forums / websites where I can get more info.

Its risky because of its local reputation more than how it really is if you see what I mean.

There is good and bad every where if you got a good safe feeling for the place that is what is important. Good luck
