Moving to york

Hi all

We are looking to move to York next year as this is an area we have fallen in love with. We have a little boy who is 2 1/2 so we need an area for good primary schools with good links to secondary schools for the future. Please can anyone advise us where will be a great area. We will be renting first to check we are happy with our area but then looking to buy within the same area if all ok.

There's not a huge amount of difference between the primary schools, no really terrible ones to avoid - although someone might be along to put me right on that!
The state (non-religious) secondary schools that are most popular are Fulford and Huntington. I understand that Archbishop Holgate's also has a good reputation, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about that school.
Sometimes the general chat area of Mumsnet can be a better place to post as there are quite a few York people on there
