House lettings?

We just moved to Cambridge a few days ago from the US. We are currently staying in a vacation-type place while urgently looking for a rental home (DH starts work on the 4th and we need a lease to apply for schools for our 5 year old).

We've been looking on RightMove and Zoopla (which seem to have a lot of overlap). Are there other good sources we are missing? Do agents have properties not posted there (ie should we be calling them directly)?

Any advice much appreciated..

It's definitely worth contacting the agents directly. They will know of the houses about to come available.

Will any of you be working in the university? They have an accommodation service with properties not listed on the lettIng agencies.

From my experience zoopla and rightmove have a complete overlap and update their websites quickly so there's no point kn calling them directly. But do check the websites as soon as they're updated (something like 9.15am for rightmove if i remember correctly) and call them straight away if there's anything you're interested in. Competition is fierce!
