Tell me about Hitchin :)

Moving into our new home at the end of August. It will be me, DH and our 1yo DS. We don't know Hitchin all that well so I am hoping some local mumsnetters can make some recommendations. I'm especially interested in nice weekend activities; parks, soft play, child friendly pubs/cafes etc.

Also are there any things to avoid like the plague?

Thank you for your help!

Hi, three soft play places that I know of in Hitchin - The Secret Garden, which is new and probably great for littlies, Little Rascals and Space 2 Play which has a separate section for toddlers and babies, but is massive and a bit terrifying at weekends!

You could look up Hitchin Lavender, which has a lovely tea room and Stotfold Mill, they're both nice at weekends.

I live in Letchworth, and can recommend Standalone Farm, Howard Park Gardens (has a paddling pool and playground which is very popular in the summer!) lovely walks round the Greenway (13 miles circular walk round the town) and Bickerdikes garden centre when your DS is a bit older, as they have a really nice kids play area.

We usually end up at Pizza Express in Hitchin as they are great for kids, and the Radcliffe Arms and Hermitage Road are lovely if you ever get an evening out without DS!

Welcome to the area, hope your move goes well :)

I can highly recommend the secret garden in hitchin. It is a great play area for little ones down sun street. They have lots of great toys and lots of activities going on for little ones. The food is lovely in there too ??
