Hi there, we have bought a house on st Julian's farm road (at the West Norwood station end) where we hope to live in the future. My son is 2 but I am thinking ahead to when he gets the free 15hrs a week at nursery. Does anyone know of a place nearby? And recommendations or places to avoid? Do they have waiting lists? I did look at the Lambeth council site but the "search for" section for under 5's just goes round in a loop!
TIA

The nursery class at Julians?

I agree the Lambeth website seems to have no info at all about how to apply for nursery places - but on the Julians site under Information they have a nursery application form.

But no admissions policy, or dates.

You will need to live in the house before you apply, and I think you probably need to apply soon - I would call Lambeth council and ask what the policy is. There won't be anyone at the school now.

The Brochure has a full list of all the state school nurseries (community, academy and faith), those attached to schools and those that are just state nursery schools, as well as private nurseries.

Julians nursery has a great reputation as far as I know, and there are advantages in using the nursery attached to the school they will go to - friends and parents networks established early, very local friends etc.

The only disadvantage with using a state school nursery is that ehy keep school times and terms. If you need childcare for cover to work then you will need a private day care nursery - list in the Brochure.

You aren't guaranteed a place in the school because you have a place in the nursery - they have completely different application processes.

Thank you so much for the helpful advice, I looked at Julian's website in the past and somehow couldn't clarify if they had a nursery. I an not looking for childcare really, just for the funded hours (as baby #2 is en route) so the nursery at Julian's would be perfect.
