First shift as a Clydesider today/ now yesterday. I was at the first dress rehearsal for the opening ceremony. Such a buzz despite the torrential rain. Spectators were very pleased with the show despite being very wet on arrival. Performers were so professional even in the wet. I am buzzing. Can't wait until next shift :)

I'm sure being a Clydesider will be great fun! It must be amazing being in the thick of it. Glasgow has such a good atmosphere just now. I've got tickets to the gymnastics and i can't wait! Keep us posted as i'm sure you're have some tales to tell :)

SnugglyBabies · 22/07/2014 01:07

octobergirls I am sure you will have a brilliant time at the Gymnastics. Training yesterday at Ibrox for the party of the year at the rugby sevens next weekend :). Second dress rehearsal at Celtic Park today, scorching sunshine what a contrast to Saturday. My husband and daughter were at the show and loved it. I still haven't seen it but the spectators are loving it. The atmospere is amazing. Not on shift for the real deal but I will be at Glasgow Green for the party with the big screens.

Enjoy the party at Glasgow Green :) I'm glad you are all enjoying the rehearsals...just think how good the really thing will be! We have tickets for the rugby sevens this saturday. Not really a rugby fan but i still think it'll be good fun!

Hi Octobergirls. If you have seats in the party stand be sure to dress up :) Worth going to an event just to soak up the atmosphere, although a quick trip to George Square will probably give you all you need.

Hi SnugglyBabies, how have you been getting on at the games so far? I took your advice and we went into George Sq on Wednesday and it was buzzing! Great Atmosphere and everyone there for a good time. I loved the opening ceremony too! How was Glasgow Green? We were at the gymnastics last night and it was superb. I have to say all staff were really lovely too:) I've been speaking to friends and we all agree that the games should be a permanent fixture! Hope all is well and that you have been enjoying yourself.

Hi October, I am glad you enjoyed the atmosphere in the city centre. I am afraid I ducked out of going to The Green for the opening ceremony, too late to pass on tickets to, I watched it on the telly. I loved the music especially the Proclaimers cover. I had been out and about all day looking for the Clyde figures. When I got back to the car the thermometer said 37 degrees c. It only dropped 2 degrees as I was driving home to pick up tickets so decided enough was enough.

If you are looking for something inexpensive to do you could follow the Clyde Trail. The app costs a £3 pound donation to UNICEF. Lots of craic and mutual picture taking along the way. You don't have to do them all. Take drinks and snacks or a picnic. One or two are a bit lonely. My personal favourite is in KIng's Park. The Clyde in the Botanic Gardens will be in many wedding albums. I saw two wedding parties getting their photographs taken with him :)

Enjoy the sevens this weekend.

Weegie, tell them if they meet any athletes to ask nicely for a pin. They all seem to have some on their lanyards. Then you can pass them to me for my collection :)

I'd better look out my pink wig and tutu for the rugby later on today then :)

SnugglyBabies - Glad you enjoyed the opening ceremony. Wednesday was a scorcher of a day so you made the right decision watching the opening ceremony at home with your feet up if you'd been on the go all day. I loved the music too and i thought the Proclaimers cover was really moving. Thanks for all the hints and tips you're giving, we will look into the Clyde Trail.

Weegiemummy - I'm sure your will kids have fun in the city today. The gift shop is great for souvenirs. We were in the other day and you end up buying all sorts for everyone and anyone! :)
