Anyone live in Bathampton?

Hi there, can anyone tell me if there's a quick route - or how to get to - Bathampton primary from Batheaston or Bathford village? I'm not based in Bath at the moment but will be making applications to primaries for next September. Wondering what the walk would be like to the village school from the other nearby villages? (if we can get in to Bathampton primary, that is!). It's difficult to work out access via roads! Thanks in advance.

Hi Heading how are the relocation plans going?

I have tweeted a link to this thread, hopefully one of our lovely followers will be able to help Smile

There is an new path/cycle way that has just opened going from Batheaston car park, which leads onto Mill Lane in Bathampton. If you were to drive you would have to go over the toll bridge on Mill Lane, not horrendous but always busy around school run time. HTH

I know this is a fairly old thread so op might have moved already, but there are primaries in both Batheaston and Bathford, if you want to save yourself the commute (and there are places).

I think Bathford had a less than stellar Ofsted quite recently - but friends with children there are perfectly happy with it. Conversely, friends with children at Bathampton have been pretty unhappy with it. I wouldn't read too much into the Ofsteds basically.

Hi Johnny, thanks for the reply. That's interesting about schools - you hear so many mixed reports. Can I ask why your friends weren't so keen on Bathampton, as generally the reviews seem pretty positive?

Hi again. I don't really want to out myself (or them) but their opinion was that it had a pretty narrow approach to things and that children are expected to fit a particular mould.

Thing is, I honestly cannot think of a single school in Bath (or indeed anywhere!) where all the parents are happy all of the time.

I would absolutely visit all three village schools and make a decision based on that. Yes, talk to parents and read reviews but the feel you get when you visit is of real importance.

It's a nice place to live Smile
