Want to win a copy of a brand new children's book, inspired by the Commonwealth Games? Harriet McDougall Goes to the Commonwealth is written by local author Priya Kharbanda.

She's offering a copy of her book as a competition prize: and if you win, you can choose to have it presented it to you at the book launch on 19th July at the Mitchell!

Just post in this thread saying what your child's favourite book is and why. Competition closes 9pm Wed 16th July.

Good luck!

Wow sounds great! We live locally and would love this!

Dd says she can't choose a favourite book though as there are way too many! Some of her favourite authors are Michael Morpurgo, Jacqueline Wilson, James Patterson, L Pichon and herself!

woo this sounds exciting!

I asked DD what her favorite book was and predictably, she says she cannot choose one. She did say though that this evening, her favourite is Pippi Longstocking because "I have a feeling Pippi and I have quite a lot in common and if she came for a sleepover at ours, I'm sure we'll have a brilliant time together".

Thank you both v much for your entries! I am a bit embarrassed to admit that, in an unfortunate episode of baby brain, I asked the wrong question! The question was actually supposed to be,

"What is your child's favourite SPORT and why?"

Sport. Not book. Obviously the two are very similar, you can see why I got confused. Anyway, the author is quite keen to know about people's favourite sports, so Whitehill and MsAppleCider, please will you indulge a confused Local Ed and reply telling us your child's favourite sports?

Sorry. Will read emails properly in future!

Ha ha ha ha!!

Sport - dancing, gymnastics, dancing, acrobatics, dancing, swimming, dancing, horse riding, dancing and also dancing!

Can you sense the theme?

And she has now added some athletics and lawn bowls to her list! Bit of Commonwealth Games influence me thinks! Grin

Thanks! Priya's going to choose a winner and will be in touch with the lucky person!
