Moving to Lincoln from abroad - best/worst areas

Hi all, my husband (british) and I (Canadian) and our 2 year old daughter are moving to the area and I need some advice on the best (other than uphill) and worst areas to rent a home! For the time being we would prefer something in Lincoln rather than a village as we don't know when we'll have a car.

Any advice is appreciated!

Hi,
Sorry for late reply and don't know if you're still looking, but I've worked in Lincoln 6 years and lived nearby, and the areas to avoid are traditionally seen as Monks Road and its environs to the east of the city centre, the Ermine estate to the north and the Birchwood estate to the west. Also worth bearing in mind that North Hykeham (south west of Lincoln) has just had a huge waste incinerator built, which I wouldn't fancy living near. If I was going to live in Lincoln I'd want either somewhere uphill (but not Ermine) or near Steep Hill, the new estates round the Carlton Centre (north east), or the Swanpool area around Skellingthorpe Road. Hope that helps!

Thanks! We are here now and we ended up choosing a place in uphill!
