We are looking for an apprentice age 16-18 to learn to manufacture bespoke curtains, blinds and cushions. The candidate would work towards completing a 3 year craft apprenticeship certificate leading to a diploma put together by the Worshipful Company of Upholders and AMUSF.

Work description:

  • Learning to make all aspects Curtains, Roman blinds and Cushions
  • Learning to use a sewing machine and hand tools
  • Booking in and measuring fabrics
  • Cutting fabrics to pattern match
  • Tidying up the workshop
  • General assistance in the workshop eg. filling and packing cushions
  • Hours: 9.00am -5.00pm
  • Wage: £160 per week, reviewed after 6 months
The above would be the first steps progressing to more skilled work and assisting with dressing in on site installations.

Prior interest in sewing or craft skills is an advantage.

The Society of London Manufacturers is URGENTLY seeking Apprentices to work with Fabrication/Manufacturing Companies in Merton/Wimbledon/New Malden.

Ideally suited to school/college leavers who have a genuine interest in manufacturing / engineering and see it as a long term career prospect and a very good work ethic.

These are full-time permanent positions (Monday-Friday) paying £5 per hour.

This is a great opportunity to learn while you earn in a government funded apprenticeship. The successful candidates will complete an Intermediate Level 2 NVQ Apprenticeship in Performing Manufacturing Operations over the first year with the training being delivered in the work place. The apprenticeship will involve training and assessments in your vocation as well as functional skills in Maths and English and also covers employment rights and responsibilities.
