Winchmore Hill / Grange Park?

Hi everyone, we're thinking of relocating in order to be able to afford house prices... we have been told Winchmore Hill is a great area but I'd be grateful for some more detailed views from people who live there. In particular I'm wondering about:
--transport links
--primary / secondary schools
--average house prices in your opinion
--areas to avoid

Any views on nearby Grange Park would be great too. Or other areas you might recommend nearby.

Many thanks for any help! We'll probably drive around some of these areas to find out more (we now live in Barnet) but would love some info from other Mumsnetters first...

Hi Maria,

The transport liknks are great, there isn't any tube but there is an overground line going to Finsbury park (about 15mins), Moorgate during the week (30mis), Kings Cross at the weekend (20mins)
I don't know about school I am only 6 weeks pregnant so haven't looked into schooling yet.

I don't know much about Grange Park I personally live in Palmers Green and I love it, I live in an area called the lakes between Broomfield Park and Grovelands Park, Winchmore Hill is really nice too it's very close by. The cost of houses varies a lot depending on which kind of property you are looking for so I would recommend you have a quick look on Zoopla.com that will give you an idea.

Hope this helps.
Cina

Thanks Cina, very helpful indeed! I did a quick search here on MN about Winchmore Hill / Palmers Green and I felt (from my admittedly superficial search, so far) that parents don't seem to be that enthusiastic about the local schools there, particularly secondaries. So I'd love more info. We drove around both areas today & really liked them both.
