Moving from London to Shoreham

Tashasalem77 · 05/07/2014 00:43

I am seriously considering moving from London to Shoreham (with my husband and 2 year old daughter) to live a better quality of life by the sea and out of the rat race! I see lots of positives in doing this but am feeling anxious about leaving my friends behind and meeting new people...and I am concerned that there won't be enough to do in Shoreham during the winter. Would be great to hear from anyone that has made a similar move and find out what toddler activities are currently running or whether you tend to go to Hove/Brighton for these? Also, I am researching local primaries at the moment and would welcome any feedback on them. And finally, what is Shoreham Academy like? What are the other secondary school options? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks lots.

I can't answer any specifics Tash as my kids are in their 20s.
But I grew up in Brighton, and have ended up back here, and have some friends who have moved to Shoreham, and their kids have followed with their families.
I think it's a place where you'll find what you're looking for; very friendly and community spirited. Lovely place.
If you don't get the answers you want here, let me know and I can put you in touch with people who may not be Mumsnetters Shock but will be able to help.

Thank you so much for your message. The sense of community there is definitely one of the major attractions for me! I may well be in touch again...

No problem.
This local board is not exactly humming is it? Grin

It might be an idea to put this in Chat as well. Actually, I'm sure I remember a thread with few people from Shoreham on it. I can't remember if I was just surprised or if I actually posted to that effect!

I'll see if I can find it.

Right, good news is, I found it, not so good, it was started in 2011 Grin
so have no way of knowing if most of them still live there.

A couple of people had posted recently, not realising how old it was - scubali and Abs77, so you could try pm-ing them.

if you want to read it and try some of the others it was started 26th Sept. 2011 by ratflavouredjelly and is called "anyone recommend a good, reliable cleaner - shoreham by sea. It's in the Local board.

Sorry, can't do links but you can put all that into Advanced Search and it should come up.
