Possible CMPI baby

So this is baby number 3 - no1 was fine, no2 was a bit fussy, no3 is horrific - 8 weeks old and has got progressively worse with crying. He contorts his body and seems pained 85% of the time he awake.

Here's his history
Birth - May 27 - On Cow and Gate - but unhappy
May 27 - June 28th - Similac Milk - Advice of GP
June 27th - recommended by HV to swap to Antireflux as she said he was showing all signs of Silent Reflux
June 28th - sooo constipated so put him back on normal Cow and Gate

So ended up on Ranitidine which did nothing and after a pained night of 2 1/2 hours sleep for hubby and I, I told my GP he was waving in the dark and he referred me to Frimley to PAU.

He's now on Aptamil Pepti 1 - as they think he might have a milk intolerance and went on that on Monday (30th) but he's showing no signs of improving yet and cried horrifically yesterday all day. He's sleeping for 10 minutes max in short bursts during the day (if I take him out in the car).

I'm feeling awful - lack of sleep, looking after a crying baby, school stuff and a toddler too - just feel hopeless and am actually avoiding going out because everyone seems to go "oh is he hungry?" and i'm like "no, he's just really unsettled.." and feeling like I have to justify it.

So today I gave him a organix fruit puree and a tiny bit of bottle and he's asleep and so much more content.

Actually just need some support, anyone been through the same? How long did it take to see a result on the pepti milk?

(Please don't judge me for giving him something other than milk - it's just really bloody tough at the moment!)

x

Hi there, sorry your poor little one sounds so uncomfortable.

My DS is on Pepti 1 and I was told by the consultant that it would take around 10 days for a noticeable change to occur. It did and thankfully he did settle (although the throwing up didn't until solids were introduced at 18 weeks).

I hope you both get relief from this soon.

Hi we found that sma wysoy milk when my son was small was a good. That was a few years ago and he did have to take a medicine to help with constipation as well we found that just went hand in hand. He has never grown out of the intolerance despite us being told he would but there is much more foods around now without cows milk in. Good luck take help where u can get out don't feel u have to hide away!
