Favourite day out in South Wales?

Greenmeadow Community Farm. The grown ups get decent coffee, cheap lunches and a charity bookshelf. The kids have been so many times and still love all of it - the demonstrations, cuddle corner, tractor ride, huge play-park and a dragon that squirts water.

Guaranteed to wear out even our over-active kids and leave them with smiles on their faces :-)

Best day out is St Fagons, lots of things to see!

WeileWeileWaile · 07/07/2014 08:16

Newport!

I know it's not the most scenic of places, but if I'm not working on a Saturday we go to Spytty for the children's screening at the cinema in the morning, if it's nice we have a picnic lunch in either Beechwood or Belle Vue Park, which are both fabulous, while the children run around otherwise we'll have something in the tea rooms and then go to the Leisure Centre where the children swim for free and have a blast. We finish up with a trip to the library (and a pit stop to the museum, because even though we've been lots, my daughter loves it in there, so we have to drop in every time we pass).

It's not an expensive day out either, but the children come home happy but exhausted.

If you ask my DC they'd say the Ape and Monkey Sanctuary but personally I prefer somewhere with more cake and less sad primates

Tintern Old Station is always a good bet, good cake Grin and lots for the DC to do.

St Fagan's Nat History Museum - Love it!

YamYam123 · 12/07/2014 21:45

I've never been but I would love a day out at Cardiff Castle, DS loves castles and Wales is full of them :)

Hilly79 · 12/07/2014 21:48

It would have to be Tintern Old Station for us. Plenty of room to run, scoot, cycle about. Treasure hunts, ice cream, picnics. Lots of good old fashioned fun : )

Caldicot castle ticks all the boxes for a lovely day out, castle, park, ducks, picnics space and ice cream!
