Young professionals wanting it all...

Hi all,

My husband and I need to move further into Cheshire. After stints in Manchester then Warrington we are now looking to move further south to reduce daily commutes to Stafford and Chester whilst keeping reasonably easy access to the M6 and the rail network. We frequently visit Manchester and Liverpool to see family so M6 access is important (for Stafford commute also).

Looking at a map Nantwich seems to be ideally placed but we know little about the area and are open to other suggestions. In an ideal world we'd be close to a town with a Didsbury/Chorlton/Stockton Heath/Lymm feel - we're both young(ish) professionals and like the idea of being a taxi ride away from a few options of good restaurants.

Saying that, we want space too grow so would opt for a country house with a bit of land in a village on the outskirts of a town over a smaller place more centrally located.

On top of this we need to consider local nurseries and primary schools.

Tarporley appeals from recent visits but whilst a good commute to Chester, it feels slightly to far from Stafford.

Can anyone help? Do I need Kirstie and Phil?

Thanks for any ideas

How about Malpas? Don't really know it myself as I am near Northwich, but have heard good things. Might be worth a look?

Thanks Sunseed. We'll take a look!

I am in Knutsford with many pretty hamlets and villages around. Great primary schools Bexton, Egerton, St Vincents, Lower Peover and Knutsford Academy and a Kids Allowed. Chester is further from here although Stafford is easy peasy on the M6 or A roads.

Sandiway and Cuddington have hourly rail links to both cities and 10 minutes journey to join either M6 or M56. 20mins to Chester by road. Primary schools here are having a rush on and are full for reception but I expect that will settle by 2+ years hence once the new builds have filled up. Good Luck!

Hi - I am just about to move to Shavington just outside Nantwich. We are currently in Birmingham.

Great train links via Crewe and quick on the M6. I also work in Stafford! So far we have been very impressed with the area. Quiet, rural (we have cows literally at the end of our garden!). We have family in Chester, about a 50 minute drive, and found this to be the best place for commuting and general access to anything we need.

We looked at Macclesfield and other places more north of the county but Nantwich worked best for us.

Good luck!
