NVQ courses

Hi ladies, I am a single mum to 3 children ages 4,5 and 7. I am looking to do a NVQ course as a teaching assistant or NVQ 1 and 2 so that I can work in a school. I don't have the necessary course funds, has anyone else done these courses and did you get help with your funding. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Tia xx

I was asking a friend of a friend who studied about 4 years ago.

She started off doing voluntary work in her DC's school, listening to the children reading, etc. She then did a part time online course but she had to pay for this herself in instalments.

She does now have a job as a paid TA but it has taken a few years as it's so competitive. Her advice is to get as much voluntary experience as you can. Apparently some schools may fund your training, it depends on budgets.
