Chesham - advice on areas

Hi
We have seen a fab house on hivings hill and are trying to decide whether to make the move. We are coming from london and had previously been focused on amersham but having compared value for money, it's making us think twice.

Chesham is clearly quite different from amersham but we don't think that's a bad thing, but are there areas of chesham we should focus on over others? Is hivings hill a good call?

Thanks a million in advance for your advice

Depends what you're looking for. Hivings Hill is a bit 'neither one thing nor another'. Not really in Chesham but not in a village. I would rather live in central Chesham (either near the park so roads like Stanley Avenue or maybe the Eskdale Avenue area which is near the Grammar School and the Leisure centre) or go a little bit further out and live in one of the villages like Bellingdon or Ley Hill or Whelpley Hill. If you need to get into London for work, being within walking distance of the station would be a huge advantage. Chesham itself is a nice little town. Very mixed (which I think of as a plus) and starting to get some interesting shops. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. It is a bit of a culture shock moving from London though.

Thanks so much for your reply notquiteruralbliss. We have been talking about it and know what you mean about Hivings Hill not being one thing or the other. We do love Chesham and all it has to offer and it's great to read your endorsement. We are hoping to make the move this summer after much debate!
