St Matthews, St Philips or Morley Memorial?

Our daughter starts school next year and due to commute we have to have the option of dropping her at breakfast club at 7.30, not everyday, but sometimes! The primary schools where we can do this are, I think, St Matthews, Morley Memorial and St Philips. We are lucky that we rent, so can move house to be in the relevant catchment area. St Matthews looks best on paper, although the Ofsted report is older. Any personal experiences you wouldn't mind sharing? Many thanks

I'd arrange to visit them all, meet the heads and get a feel for them first-hand.

Milton Road's breakfast club opens at 7.45am, in case that helps...

Thank you. I will definitely go and visit. Unfortunately 7.30 is the latest drop off time as I have to be at work by 8 half an hour away. OH works shifts so about twice a week he leaves to early to do drop off. So complex!

In that case also check those schools have spaces in their breakfast club. Nothing worse than choosing a school because of wraparound care, getting the place and then finding out that the out of school club is actually full!

That hadn't even occurred to me! Thank you!

Go to St Matthews, by far the best run school of the three, and certainly the best early years department. I have worked as a teacher in all three schools, up until last year, and St Matthews is by far the best. Amazing had teacher, really strong team of staff, and really lovely reception teachers. They are very well resourced, and the teaching is fantastic.

Also, the kids love the morning and after school club, and poppy who runs it is really good.

Thank you for that. Do you know anything at all about how busy the breakfast and after school club are? I have tried to contact them with no luck. Thanks.

As they are such a big school they have a lot of children in the wrap around care, with lots of room and provisions. I'd imagine they have room all the time, but have you just tried calling the school office and asking to have the contact number for the after school club?

HAve you applied to any of the schools yet? Because if not I'd imagine st. matthews is already full, as the places have all been given out now and they always have a huge waiting list.

Thank you. The office gave me an email address but haven't had a reply yet. I will phone this week. I am looking for next year so need to apply by January. Just being well-prepared!

On St.M.'s website they say that breakfast club starts at 8 o'clock. Wouldn't that be too late for you?
