Hi, not sure if anyone will be able to help but basically I'm a single parent working part time. I've just recently had my working hours cut from 30 to 20 so am struggling financially. My washing machine has just packed up and I was wondering if anyone knows if I am eligible for a grant or anything as I have no money to buy a new one (or second hand one for that matter) Thanks

Have you tried Freecycle? People are often getting rid of ones they don't want any more. Also Gumtree for usually very cheap appliances. As far as grants or other support go, I really have no idea, but hope someone more knowledgeable will come along.

Would second the idea of freecycle. It is a shame, two months ago I gave away a perfectly good washing machine on freecycle - sign up and keep an eye out.
Good luck!

There are charities, btw that do deal with this sort of thing. We donated a washer to one a few years ago.

I think there's a list on the council's website. I'll look later.
