Eltham Primary Schools - Advice needed

Hi there,
I am in the process of researching primary schools in Eltham and was wondering if someone could give their opinions on Gordon and Deansfield? Or any other school you would recommend in the area.
We are living abroad at the moment but we are due to be back in Eltham in 2015 and have only lived in Eltham for a few months. Hoping to do some school visits in a few weeks as I am back on holiday.
Thanks in advance.

My son attends Deansfield and is currenlty in y2. It is our local school and is well run with an active parent group. We like that it has a good music program. I have a couple friends attending Gordon and they are happy with it. I believe it is a bigger school. I think either school would be fine but a visit to both schools is a must. Personally, we chose the school closest to us, but would have been fine with Gordon. Deansfield is a popular school but places do come up as we moved to the school in late Y1.

My children are at Eltham C of E school. To be honest I think that this school, deans field, the Gordon and st Mary's are all good schools. Some yrs one is better than the other and the next year it changes again! I have friends with children at all of these schools and they are all happy. It just depends on which is nearest to you and which you get the best feel for.

How old is your little one. If they are already school age it may come down to who has a space. If you are applying for reception it will probably come down to where you live and catchment areas. All 3 schools are popular so the nearer you are to your fav school the better! Good luck! Grin

Hi there, Yes she will be going into reception and we will be living on Westmount road so round the corner from Gordon Primary school. Thanks again for the info.

Sounds like your dd is the same age as mine... reception sept 2015? You will be well located to possibly get in to any of the schools mentioned. Good luck with the move... hope all goes well

Hi I'm trying to research schools for my daughter does anyone know the catchment areas for these schools? I'm currently very unimpressed with the nursery my daughter currently attends and definitely will not send her come September 15 Sad

Hopefully this link to the interactive map will work... Its based on the intake in Sept.14 although obviously it varies every year.

My son has been at Gordon since Nursery and is now in year 6. I personally wouldn't recommend Gordon school through past experiences. The headmaster is afraid of confrontation and any concerns you have he tends to hide in his office or makes up excuses.
If I knew what I knew now I would have sent my son to Deansfield.
