Hi there,Dh has just got a job with land rover so we plan to sell our house in Hampshire and rent up there. Ds is 9 and strong academically dd has severe speech delay and really would like makaton friendly nursery. Any ideas? We also move early July so no time! Thank you..
Budget is £850 max per month. Space is important, kids after big garden! I like 1930s style houses...

Hi cheekymonk. I have just had a quick check online and can see lots of properties to rent in good areas up to your maximum price. Olton and Damsonwood are the right sides of town for Land Rover but Shirley I would also recommend as you will get a decent home for what you would like to pay and the area is good and in the vicinity of some great schools - a brand new development has just opened there too.

Hopefully someone will be along soon to give advice on makaton friendly nurseries; schools in Solihull are generally very well regarded though. I don't know if you have seen it but under the childcare and education tab at the top there is a revamped link to schools via schoolguide.co.uk lots of easy to access info there.

Hope that helps and good luck with the move!

That's a shame as great family area. Where else have you seen?

Hi cheekymonk, not sure if this one has gone? But i would live there, nice group of roads, near some good schools, Burman Infants is a good one, and in catchment for Alderbrook which is well regarded, as is Tudor Grange.

solihull is brill, lots of really good things to do and very near to Birmingham but far enough away too!!

there's a brand new nursery opening up within a stones throw of that house, in the old Shirley library, there are bound to be places, I'm not sure about being Makaton friendly, though? If I could remember the name I would tell you, sorry!

I've emailed the natural childcare company but they seem extortionate but look lovely...

Yoxall rd is nice, but the third bedroom will be tiny if it's like the one we viewed on there years ago. They're all different houses though so might be ok! Good catchment area.
Bentley Heath is between knowle and Dorridge which are two large desirable villages in Solihull, I can't comment specifically on the area of that house though, nor the nearest school, Bentley Heath.
The one in damson wood is the closest to land rover and the area is fine, but not too sure about the schools to be able to comment.
Haslucks croft is a nice road but right next to the new development in Shirley and the new Asda, I bet the traffic getting out of the road would be a nightmare, although an immensely convenient position to walk to loads of local amenities and really good park for children of all ages!

Thank you Solihull susannah. One thing I have noticed is houses are going fast!

Wow have recovered from our 5 viewings yesterday. Harnall close was our favourite but Bentley Heath close 2nd, loved the surrounding area but house too small really. Space is important really would like decent garden for children and good amount of living space. I loved Solihull but wow it is expensive! Loved coleshill and Meriden too. We are all excited and can't wait to get up there Grin

Ha yes Solihull is quite expensive - but it's worth it :) Lovely place to live, great schools and it's a perfect size (IMO!)

Hope you got the house you are after.
