We've always done villa holidays but would like to try a hotel/resort this year so I get to have a holiday too without any cooking to do.

Our kids are 4 and 6 so we have to go in term - time. The 4 year old has a very short attention span so can't face a long - haul flight with him which means we are basically looking at Europe.

Any recommendations for nice resorts that have kids clubs but are still quite chic? Not really a Mark Warner fan.

Ideally, I'd love to got with a Scott Dunn style villa with nanny and cook but just had a quote that was more than our car cost for a week in Italy.

If you are looking for somewhere in Italy try Borgo Egnazia in Puglia - super chic and family friendly. Not cheap but less than a 4x4!

We did a week at the Anassa in Cyprus last year and it was heavenly. Total luxury but with a good kids' club, decent family rooms, children's menus and babysitting. www.anassa.com.cy/en-gb/Home

It was definitely NOT cheap though - either to book or when we were there but if you were even thinking about Scott Dunn then it's probably within your budget. I think it was about £5k for 4 of us and that was without flights as we used DH's air miles for those.
