Bookham pre-schools and schools

Hi I'm hopefully moving to Bookham and looking for advice on pre-schools and schools. Need pre-school for 3 yo ds from sept/jan depending when move. Bus stop with forest school looks good? We'll be on doorstep of Polesden Lacey infants - which school are you likely to go to after this? Eastwick appears to only have 15 extra places in juniors and Dawnay takes no extras? Definitely want to get into a Howard feeder. Would we be better trying for Eastwick infants? I know you have to apply for jnrs anyway but are you more likely to get in from infants? On distance I think we're just outside where the jnrs catchment was last year. Also as a mum new to the area are there any groups people recommend or tips for meeting other mums? I also have a 3 mo dd. Thanks!

Welcome to Bookham. There was a recent thread on schools www.mumsnet.com/Talk/primary/a2054154-Bookham-primary-schools-advice in case you haven't found it. Eastwick Juniors was visited by Ofsted a couple of weeks ago so there will be an up-to-date report published soon which will make it easier to compare the schools. Both Eastwick and The Dawnay take at least 15 extra children at juniors, so there isn't a problem moving on from Polesden Lacey Infants.

Re meeting people, it is a very friendly village. The easiest way is to get involved in groups that your children should enjoy, eg the toddler groups, clubs etc. We have our village day on 21st June, which I'd recommend as a must for young families if you are moving soon. There is a children's parade down the high street late morning and then lots of stalls and activities at The Barn Hall.
