Hello everyone. I will move to Cambridge next week. I’m a foreigner, and I don't familiar much with education system in England. So, I really need your helps, please.

I have a little girl, her birthday is September 28th 2010 .( I already send her to Montessori system, so she now can write and read a little bit. And she can understand and speak English). I am looking a place to send her in here, Cambridge. Could you please let me know will I send her to Nursery or Preschool?’

One more question is I know that the cut off date for school is September 1st. It seems that my daughter will go to kindergarten when she is 6 years old ( in 2016???), right? (and kindergarten ages are 5 years old) I am really confused about this. Could someone explain to me about this, pls.

Thank you so much

She could go to nursery or preschool - the difference is often the hours that they are open for and preschools don't take babies.

Your daughter will start school in September 2015. The first year of school is called "reception" in the UK.

Try the children and families section of www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/

for schools and nurseries/preschool. There are state and private nurseries and 15 hours per week in term-time is funded, though I don't know whether there are eligibility criteria if you aren't form the UK.
