Perse school 6th form bursary

Hello,

My son is in year 10 and we are starting to think about 6th form.
We would like him to go to a private 6th form if possible, and I've started looking at admissions policies for various schools.

Would anyone like to share their experience of gaining a bursary for the Perse School 6th form. My son will also try to gain a scholarship position.

I can only provide rather old information - DS1 had a bursary all through the senior school - means tested each year. He was in the top quarter to third of the school's ability range. Those who received scholarships in his year were seriously clever - i.e. all A* results with no sweat!
Why not Hills Road? If you are concerned about class sizes, do check with the Perse whether their class sizes are significantly smaller than Hills Road.
Back in DS' time it was a good but fairly laid back school. More recent parents can tell you if that has changed.

We are not in catchment for Hills Rd otherwise that certainly would have been my first choice. There are only a few out-of-area places available - I recall reading something like 5 places, though I can't see where I read that now.

AFAIK Hills Road doesnt have a catchment or rather all the local schools are "catchment"

Well yes, that's sort of what I meant. We do not live in Cambridge, or indeed Cambridgeshire. We are Essex/Suffolk/Cambridge border (ha! See if you can work out where I live!).
