I am thinking of moving to Winterbourne, for when my oldest child starts high school for the Ridings, is it worth it or should I stay, our closest school is fairfield?

If it were me, I would choose the Ridings over Fairfield without hesitating. However, I don't know a great deal about Fairfield other than by reputation and quality of their results. I think you need to think where you feel your children would be happiest. The Ridings is currently being completely rebuilt, and does have good facilities however, I do feel that there are a lot of students on a very small site. I would make appointments to go and visit both and see which one leaves you with the best impression.

Thankyou lovinglapland, we are having trouble figuring out whether we are just being swayed by reputations that are potentially not based on fact..

It is difficult to compare as they do have quite different intakes. If you look at the RM Education school finder info, it is quite interesting to see that for pupils entering high school as high achievers (above level 4 in SATS), more children at Fairfield achieve 5 A* to C than they do at Ridings. It does suggest to me that the Ridings coast a little on having a better intake, and don't necessarily make as much progress with all their students. Definitely go and see both, it's made me think!!
